Yevhen Nazarov: "Winning is always pleasant"

Senior coach of "Metalist 1925" U-19 Yevhen Nazarov about the victorious match against "Oleksandriya" and the fight for a place in the top five:

– A minimal advantage over Oleksandriya 1:0. What are your emotions right after the match?

– Mixed emotions, because I am satisfied with the result, but not with the game itself.

– Today there is a feeling of déjà vu. Today, just like in the match against "Kryvbas," we win again 1:0, with Matviy Panchenko scoring again. We confirm the football saying that it's better to win several times with a score of 1:0 than once, but with a big score?

– That's right. Winning is always nice, but our main goal is to educate football players. We want to win, but we also need quality. So we will analyze this game. I think we might even have to swear a bit.

– You have negative emotions, but we still won. Speaking of the positive, what could you highlight?

– The players found the strength to win a game that was not going smoothly. The boys also showed fighting qualities - that's undeniable. But, I repeat: we need quality players and quality game for their growth. Yes, winning is great. On the positive side, we created many opportunities, even had one hundred percent chances to score. We wanted more control, more calculated actions, to move the ball from flank to flank.

– In the standings, it is evident that the team is fighting to get into the top five. The next match will take place in Lviv against "Rukh," probably one of those that will determine the places the team will fight for?

– I will say that I haven't looked at this table. Our main task is quality players who will be able to do everything on the field. So that they grow and make it to the first team, or even to the masters' teams.

– Karpizin, Kondratiuk, Bahrii, and Honcharov were at the training camp with the first team. After returning to the youth team, can you notice any positive changes in the players' game?

– Yes, of course, in the first part of the season, I noted that it's very good that the first team coaches are interested in them. They give them encouragement and motivation to grow. For young people, it's important to make the transition from youth football to adult football. The main thing for the boys now is to play, get game practice. Only then will they grow. Yes, they trained, went to the camp with the first team, but what's important for them is game practice. That's why we give them the opportunity to show themselves.
