Yevhen Pavlyuk: "A very nice goal was scored"

Defender Yevhen Pavlyuk shared his emotions after the victory over "Rukh" (3:0), talked about his spectacular goal from a free kick, the atmosphere in the team, and preparation for the next match against "Shakhtar."

— Zhenya, the first question after the match: what was that free kick execution? Was it a rehearsed combination or did you decide to approach and shoot on the spot?

— Thank you. It wasn't a rehearsed combination. I just saw that the free kick was close to the goal. The head coach shouted, "Zhenya, shoot." I approached and I'm very happy that I managed to execute it that way. A very nice goal was scored. I'm glad that this goal became a kind of starting point in today's match because it made things a bit easier for us. Congratulations to all the fans on the victory.

— It seems that the victory over "Rukh" was easy in terms of the scoreline. Was it the same on the field?

— The beginning of the game didn't go as we wanted. We had some difficulties in defense. But overall, a 3:0 scoreline, I think, was deserved. "Rukh" also showed good play at times, but I'm glad we managed to secure the victory. We move on.

— You celebrated the goal with the head coach, and overall it was evident that the team was genuinely happy. The atmosphere is good right now. Do you attribute this to the results?

— Honestly, it's hard to say. But I believe that a healthy atmosphere should be present in a team. It is through this that the team achieves results. I'm very happy that we have such an atmosphere in our team, and I hope it will only continue to improve.

— Valeriy Dubko made his debut in the second half, playing alongside you in the center of defense. How do you rate his debut?

— I'm very happy for Valera. I've known him for a long time. He came on and showed a good game. I hope he continues to demonstrate the same quality football. I wish him success in our team.

— Do you think such a confident victory will help emotionally prepare better for the match against "Shakhtar"?

— I think any victory, regardless of the scoreline, helps emotionally prepare for the next match. I really hope that this game will put us in a good mood for the match against "Shakhtar."

— And finally: is this goal the most beautiful in your career?

— Yes, I think this is my most beautiful goal. Most of the goals I scored were from set pieces or rebounds, but I hadn't scored directly from a free kick before. I'm very happy to have opened the scoring with such a goal. I hope the next ones will also be from free kicks.
