Yevhen Nazarov: "The most important thing is not to stop and keep progressing"

Senior coach of "Metalist 1925" U-19 Yevhen Nazorov shared his impressions after the final match of the season against "Veres" U-19:

- The team was ahead twice during the match but couldn't hold on to the victory. In your opinion, what was the key moment today?

- I can say that I am satisfied with the players' performance. Especially - with the first half. In the second half, the strong wind created certain difficulties, the ball literally hung in the air. The opponent, who is fighting for medals, increased pressure in attack, often resorted to crosses and direct play. We told the guys that they needed to continue playing through short passes and openings. When we succeeded in doing that, everything worked out for us. But when we tried to play simpler, the opponent took advantage of it. I am satisfied with the game, but not with the result. We also scored two more goals, one of which, as the video review showed, was clean - there was no offside. But it happens, referees are young and make mistakes too.

- How difficult is it emotionally to end the season with such a painful defeat in a tough match?

- Losing is always unpleasant. But the coaching staff is satisfied with how the players are progressing and how they can play. In the last four matches, we played at a good level in terms of football quality. Quality play doesn't always bring points, but it's important for us that the team is moving forward.

- What are the main conclusions and positives the team can take away from this season?

- U-19 players play in this championship to progress and strive to make it to the first team. They have shown that they can play football. For some of the guys, this is already the last season at the U-19 level, they will either move to U-21 or try their luck in professional football. I want to wish them success. The most important thing is not to stop and keep progressing.
