UAF sharply increased the "tax" on legionnaires: new rates for UPL clubs
The Ukrainian Football Association has set new financial conditions for UPL clubs planning to strengthen their squad with foreign players. According to journalist Viktor Vatska, as voiced on his own YouTube channel, the mandatory fee for registering each new legionnaire who has not previously played in the Ukrainian championship has significantly increased.
Previously, clubs paid 150 thousand hryvnias for this procedure, but now the registration fee is 400 thousand hryvnias. This decision significantly raises the costs of transferring players from foreign leagues.
The financial innovations are being introduced in preparation for the 2026/27 season, which will start on August 1. The previous championship ended with the triumph of Donetsk's "Shakhtar," which earned 72 points in 30 rounds. Following them in the standings were LNZ (60 points) and "Polissya" (59 points), with "Dynamo" finishing fourth (57 points). The season was completed by FC "Kharkiv" (formerly "Metalist 1925") in fifth place, with 55 points, managing to finish in the top five of the championship.
