All details of Profini's transfer to FC "Kharkiv" revealed in Argentina
Midfielder Rafael Profini, who was one of the key players for Union and one of the best players of the team in the previous championship, will officially continue his career at FC Kharkiv. Thanks to this transfer, the Argentine club plans to pay off debts to the team, lift transfer restrictions, and actively work in the market.
Club Atletico Union officially confirmed one of the most important deals of this transfer window - the transfer of central midfielder Rafael Profini to the Ukrainian FC Kharkiv.
The player, who confidently secured his place in the starting lineup and became one of the leaders in the midfield due to his stable performance in the previous season, has taken a step towards European football.
Transfer Financial Details
As reported by El Litoral, the transfer fee is $1.8 million USD, which Kharkiv will pay in three equal installments of $600,000 each. Payments are scheduled for July 2026, February 2027, and June 2027.
In addition, Union's management secured favorable conditions for the future. The club will retain 20% of the amount from the player's next transfer, guaranteeing a minimum of $400,000. Thus, the minimum amount the Argentine club will earn from this transfer will be $2.2 million.
Summing up all the terms of the deal, Union sold 80% of Profini's rights for an amount exceeding two million dollars. The first payment of $600,000 is expected to arrive soon. After that, the club from Santa Fe will process all the necessary documents for the player to finally join the Ukrainian team.
Kharkiv will make the second installment of the same amount in February 2027, and the third one in June 2027.
It is worth explaining the condition regarding the guaranteed $400,000. Profini signed a contract with FC Kharkiv until December 2028. If the player is not sold before the contract expires, the Ukrainian club is obliged to pay Union the specified amount. A similar condition will apply if 20% of the future transfer is less than $400,000 - the Argentine club will still receive the guaranteed minimum.
After completing all formalities, Rafael Profini, who earlier in the day bid farewell to Union fans with a touching message on social media, officially became a player of FC Kharkiv, which has already presented him as their new player.
Despite the significant loss for the team in sporting terms, this transfer will be an important financial reinforcement for Union. The funds received will be primarily used to pay off debts to the main team, lift transfer restrictions, and strengthen the squad ahead of the new season in the Argentine championship.
How Union Plans to Use the Received Funds
The first $600,000, which the club is expected to receive soon, is planned to be used to pay off debts to Angulo and Juventud Las Piedras. This will allow lifting transfer restrictions and fully entering the market to sign new players expected by head coach Leonardo Madelon.
It is also possible that the club's management will turn to a financial institution for a short-term loan to expedite the team-building process. Less than three weeks remain until the start of the new Clausura tournament, so Union aims to quickly resolve all financial matters.
