Famous journalist commented on the possible transfer of Douglas Owusu to "Kharkiv"

"Kharkiv" is working on a possible transfer of 20-year-old Ghanaian right winger Douglas Owusu, whose contract belongs to Belgrade's "Crvena Zvezda". This information was also confirmed by journalist and co-host of "TaToTake" Mikhail Spivakovsky.

"Kharkiv" wanted to acquire the Ghanaian winger back in winter, but at that time the transfer did not materialize. "Crvena Zvezda" acted more promptly and won the competition for the player.

However, in Belgrade, Owusu failed to perform at the level that the Serbian club presumably expected. He played 13 matches for "Crvena Zvezda" and scored three goals. Now the Serbs want to recoup the funds spent on his acquisition.

One separate detail is related to the financial terms of Owusu's previous transfer. "Crvena Zvezda" was supposed to pay around €2.2 million to his former club - Serbian "Radnik" from Surdulica.

According to Spivakovsky, the Belgrade club only paid around €200-300 thousand, so the main part of the debt remains unpaid. Accordingly, "Crvena Zvezda" seeks to compensate for its expenses, and "Radnik" - to receive the money owed to them for the player.

In this situation, "Kharkiv" is considered a club that potentially can meet the financial wishes of both sides. However, negotiations will have to be conducted directly with "Crvena Zvezda", as it is the Serbian club that should officially receive the transfer funds.

According to the journalist, "Crvena Zvezda" has a title sponsor - the Russian company "Gazprom", and also regularly plays friendly matches with Russian clubs. At the same time, Spivakovsky separately emphasized that Owusu did not personally play in matches against Moscow's "Spartak" and St. Petersburg's "Zenit".

Spivakovsky acknowledged that the situation surrounding the potential deal looks ambiguous. At the same time, the journalist reminded that after the start of a full-scale war in Ukrainian football, a similar transfer had already taken place: in the summer of 2023, Shakhtar acquired Georgian defender Irakli Azarov from the same "Crvena Zvezda". According to the media, the Donetsk club paid around three million euros for him.
