Фещук розібрав 6-й тур УПЛ – компліменти Пономаренку і Фернандесу, порада Оболоні: «Приємно здивувало Динамо»

Feshchuk analyzed the 6th round of the UPL - compliments to Ponomarenko and Fernandes, advice to Obolon: "Dynamo pleasantly surprised"

Maxym Feshchuk summed up the sixth round of the UPL in an exclusive interview with "UF", naming the best coach, player, and team.

On Monday, September 14, the passions of the sixth round of the Ukrainian Premier League season 2026/27 subsided, which turned out to be incomplete because two matches - between Krivbas and FC Kharkiv and Veres and Kudrivka - did not take place. The reason was the terror of the Russian forces, due to which there were hours-long air raids in Kryvyi Rih and Rivne. For safety reasons, the matches had to be postponed to indefinite dates.

However, despite this, following the established tradition of our publication, journalist of the "Ukrainian Football" website Viktor Glukhenky summed up the battles on the domestic fields together with the authoritative expert, this time former forward of Lviv's Karpaty, Simferopol's Tavria, and several other domestic clubs Maxym Feshchuk.

"The round turned out as expected. There are no unexpected results."

- Maxym, what are your impressions of the round spoiled by Russian-terrorist forces in general?

- The impressions of the round are spoiled, definitely, because it turned out to be incomplete. And the round turned out as expected. There are no unexpected results, in my opinion. The only game that had tension and intrigue was Kolos - Karpaty.

The rest... The victories of LNZ, Polissya, Shakhtar, and Dynamo were quite predictable.

- Will the victorious spirit of Karpaty last long?

- The Lviv team looks balanced and with a good atmosphere this season. In the summer, Karpaty managed to make really quality reinforcements. I would highlight Rusyn and Vantukh first. And also, you know, there is some football luck on the side of the "lions". Now Karpaty are pleasantly surprising.

During the season, Lviv residents also signed Sifuentes, and for me, it's a mystery. What is he doing at Karpaty?

- Because of the Spanish development vector.

- I understand that, but the point is that in my opinion, Karpaty have enough players of such caliber as Sifuentes.

As for how long the victorious spirit will last for Karpaty, the Lviv team has a deep bench, squad depth, and competition. I believe that Karpaty will finish at least in the top five this season. The potential is very good for the Lviv team.

- Which match in the round disappointed you the most?

- The LNZ - Obolon match turned out to be uninteresting because for me it was very predictable. I had no doubt that the Kyiv team would not be able to offer anything to the Cherkasy team and impose a fight on them. I was 100% sure that Vitaliy Ponomaryov's team would win.

"Obolon looks like a team that is the main contender for relegation to the First League."

- Perhaps the only thing that can please Kyivans is that they finally scored the first goal of the season, it took six rounds...

- This is already a psychological moment. Believe me, they would agree not to score, but to play the match "to zero", because what's the difference - losing 0:3 or 1:3?

Today, Obolon looks like a team that is the main contender for relegation to the First League.

- Moving on to nominations. Which team will you name the best in the round?

- Dynamo pleasantly surprised. I liked how the Kyiv team approached the game with a tough opponent, with what attitude and mood the players took to the field. With such a game, this team [Dynamo] can claim something serious. The blue and white won not by luck. Everything was done professionally, justified, and predictable.

Epitsentr tried to impose a fight at times, and overall, it is a team that plays, but...

"It was harder for Karpaty to beat Kolos than for Dynamo to defeat Epitsentr, so the title of coach of the round goes to Fernandes"

- Who, in your opinion, deserves the title of coach of the round?

- I would like to name Kostyuk as the coach of the round because it was his birthday on the day of the match against Epitsentr and his team won, but... It was harder for Karpaty to beat Kolos than for Dynamo to defeat Epitsentr, so the title of coach of the round goes to Fran Fernandes.

- The best player of the round, who worked for this title?

- Considering how Ponomarenko played against Epitsentr and the goal he scored from a free kick, I will name him the best.

Rusyn looked great, but... I like Ponomarenko's style of play, so I name him the best player of the sixth round of the UPL.

- From what you said, it seems that Matviy's goal was the best in the round?

- Yes. Ponomarenko surprised with that strike.

- The round passed without any major scandals, in my opinion.

- The only scandals could be called the unplayed matches, but... There were some disputes in the Kolos - Karpaty match. It seems that representatives of the coaching staffs did not agree on something.

- Even Taras Mykhalyk, who is usually very calm and polite in communication, received a yellow card from the referee...

- The tension in Kovalivka was high, so I named the match between Kolos and Karpaty the best of the round.

- And finally - about the disappointments of the round.

Who - one of the teams or a specific player - openly failed the game?

- No one would want to single out in a negative context. The only thing is that something is not working out, not going well in Obolon...

- Non-alcoholic beer at the "brewers" at the start of the season.

- 😂 Well, I don't know... If they have non-alcoholic, maybe it's time for Obolon to switch to alcoholic beer [to get results].
