Maldera assessed Kalyuzhny's chances of getting into the Ukrainian national team
The coach of the Ukrainian national team, Andrea Maldera, visited the "Kharkiv" camp during the Austrian training camp.
- Today you saw the "Kharkiv" team's training live. What is your first impression of the team?
- Very good. I liked the organization and the team's concept. I also watched several matches of "Metalist 1925" last season, so I knew that it is a very good team that works well. And now I am convinced of this, as I saw everything live, not on TV.
- Ivan Kalyuzhny extended his contract with "Kharkiv." You did not call him up for your first training camp with the national team. Do you see him as part of your plans in the future?
- Every footballer should aspire to be part of the national team. Yes, I already have a certain vision and many candidates for the upcoming matches. But injuries can happen, and someone may not be in optimal form, so every player in the Ukrainian league should have such ambition. I do not close the door to anyone. They are open to everyone. This is one of my goals - to get to know as many players as possible.
Ivan Kalyuzhny was an indispensable defensive midfielder in Serhiy Rebrov's team, but he was left out of the squad for the first matches under Andrea Maldera.
