The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has initiated an investigation into the deputy of the Kyiv City Council, Oleksandr Shovkovsky.
It concerns possible extortion of $250,000, the use of deputy status and connections in law enforcement agencies to resolve family business matters, as well as possible inaccurate declaration of income from advertising activities related to the bookmaker company Betking.
On August 13 of this year, NABU registered criminal case No. 52026000000000469. From the materials submitted to the bureau, it emerges a story that began as a simple property conflict but later escalated into a situation involving blackmail and criminal persecution.
