Viktor Vatsko - on rebranding, transfers and youth of FC "Kharkiv"

The famous Ukrainian journalist Viktor Vatsko shared his opinion on the rebranding of FC "Kharkiv" and evaluated the club's summer transfer campaign.

Vatsko admitted that the rebranding made a positive impression on him.

“Personally, I really liked the rebranding. I like that they changed the name to FC "Kharkiv" because historically, "Metalist" is the only one in Kharkiv. I really liked the presentation in terms of the idea. The colors are very appealing. Visually, everything is very pleasing.”

However, the journalist couldn't resist making a joke.

“When I look at photos or videos from the training camp, I constantly get the impression that Bartulovich is not in FC "Kharkiv" but somewhere in "Schalke".”

Speaking about the squad composition, Vatsko noted that the club initially optimized its personnel resources.

“A group of experienced central midfielders left, along with players who practically had no playing time. They cleaned up both the squad and the payroll.”

The journalist particularly highlighted the transfer of Oleksandr Yatsyk.

“They wanted to buy Yatsyk last summer, then in winter, but couldn't agree with "Dynamo". Now they showed persistence and reached an agreement. For me, this is a significant moment. Yatsyk came to "Zorya" as a defensive midfielder. But Bartulovich saw in him the potential of a more attacking player, reprofiled him, and in that season Yatsyk made 5+4 according to the goal plus assist system.”

The journalist also spoke positively about the Argentine newcomer Profini.

“They say that he makes a very good impression in training and in the first friendly matches. He can play as a 'six' or 'eight'. Currently, "Kharkiv" has a very versatile midfield: Kalyuzhny, Profini, Yatsyk, Revalo, Baptiste. It's a very interesting midfield.”

Vatsko named Carlos Parako as the most interesting summer signing.

“Last season, the biggest problem for "Kharkiv" was the attacking group. That's why I really like the signing of Parako. He can play as a winger, second forward, or winger. Very agile, fast, works well with the ball, and presses effectively. He is the type of player that suits Bartulovich's style. With Itodo on the wing, "Kharkiv" can play in one way, with Parako - in another. It also allows for using two forwards simultaneously.”

The journalist also believes that the team would benefit from another quality winger, although he understands the club's desire to wait for Ramik Gadzhiyev's full recovery after injury.

Separately, Vatsko praised the club's work with young players.

“I like that "Kharkiv", while having the opportunity to buy good foreign players, does not forget about its own youth. If you work hard and progress, the path to the first team is open. This is a very positive signal for all club graduates.”
