Countries in UEFA that oppose Russia's return to international competitions have been revealed
It has become known which national associations of UEFA continue to categorically oppose the return of Russia after the International Olympic Committee called on all sports to lift sanctions related to the war.
Among them are Ukraine, England, France, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, the Baltic countries, and Romania.
The position of these federations is considered one of the main obstacles to the return of Russian football to European tournaments.
All national teams and clubs from Russia were suspended from tournaments under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA in the spring of 2022. This happened against the backdrop of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Russian teams are missing out on World and European Championships, as well as the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, and other tournaments.
It was also previously reported that FIFA and UEFA do not plan to reintegrate Russian teams into international tournaments in the near future.
