Kharkiv lost Baptiste for at least a month
FC Kharkiv attacking midfielder Kauan Baptista will miss the start of the new UPL season due to injury.
On the eve of a friendly match with Czech side Jablonec (0:1), the Brazilian with an Italian passport landed awkwardly on his shoulder after a tackle by Eduard Sobol, injuring it. The player is expected to return to action no earlier than mid-August.
18-year-old Baptista joined the Kharkiv club from Brazilian side Cruzeiro in February this year for 1.5 million euros. In the spring part of the previous season, the midfielder played 10 matches and scored 1 goal for the then "Metalist 1925".
It is worth noting that earlier, 20-year-old central midfielder Matviy Panchenko of Kharkiv suffered a serious knee injury during the summer training camp in Austria. Due to a meniscus injury, he will have to miss from three to four months.
In the first round of the 2026/27 UPL season, Kharkiv will host Veres at the Left Bank Arena in Kyiv on August 1.
