Another statement on the limit of legionnaires was made in Polissia
The CEO of FC Polissya Volodymyr Zahurskyi expressed his position on the issue of the limit on legionnaires and the principles of Ukrainian football development.
“We see a conflict in the information space regarding the limit on legionnaires between Shakhtar and Dynamo. FC Polissya does not take sides with any of the clubs in this dispute.
Our position on this issue is consolidated with the position of the UAF: if Ukrainian footballers are not considered legionnaires in EU countries, then players with EU passports should not have legionnaire status in Ukraine. We should not resort to discrimination.
The club's president, Hennadii Butkevych, has already voiced his position: limits, like any artificial restrictions, do not contribute to the development of football. It is necessary not to limit, but to create conditions for the growth of Ukrainian players - to develop infrastructure, invest in youth football, coach training, and the development of club academies, and provide preferences for locally trained footballers.
As specific proposals for future consideration, we suggest working on a rule that from the 2027/2028 season, each team must have a Ukrainian player under 21 on the field,” Zahurskyi said.
