Famous writer and musician Serhiy Zhadan commented on the rebranding of "Metalist 1925" into FC "Kharkiv":

"I wanted to add a bit more about football. I first visited "Metalist" somewhere in the late eighties. It was the off-season, a friendly match, empty stands, but the crazy Kharkiv sky above the stadium became a lifelong love. Then I went to the stadium dozens of times, for the championship and the cup, for national team matches and Euro-2012 matches. They even filmed a music video for "5th Avenue" at "Metalist."

The fact that there is no major football in Kharkiv since the beginning of the full-scale invasion is certainly depressing. Although, of course, this is far from the biggest problem. Still, I want the players back on the field and the spectators back in the stands. So I am pleased with the progress of "Metalist 1925," which since yesterday has become the football club "Kharkiv." I really want the citizens to bring life back to the stadium, and with them, the spirit of victory. Looking at the consistency and determination with which the team has been moving forward in recent years, I believe it will happen.

And I also want to thank the citizens for their constant support of our "Khartya." Last year, they bought the right to play a match against the Khartya team for $200,000. The money went to "Khartya," and Kharkiv children took the field with Andriy Shevchenko and Oleksandr Usyk. It was beautiful and touching. So onwards to victory, dear Kharkiv residents!"
