The current champion of Ukraine Shakhtar hosted Polissya in a nominally home match. "Miners" won all three matches at the start of the season, while the team from Zhytomyr unexpectedly lost to Zorya (1:2) in the previous game. Interestingly, in Shakhtar's starting lineup for the match against Polissya, only three Ukrainians played - this has never happened in the history of the championship.
In the match against the "miners," Oleg Kudryk started for the guests instead of Georgiy Bushchan, as in previous matches. Also unexpectedly, Oleksandr Nazarenko started instead of Vladyslav Velyten. The first moment in the match occurred in the 13th minute: Marlon initiated an attack, passed to Elias, who found Mendosa. Gleiker shot from a dangerous distance, but the ball flew over the goal.
Shortly after, Marlon broke through the flank and rolled a pass to the center of the penalty area. The ball bounced to Elias, but Mykhailichenko put his head in and saved his team from conceding a goal. Shakhtar attacked more, but it was Polissya who scored. In the 31st minute, Andrade fought to the end, dribbled past Emerlakh, and passed to Nazarenko, who finished with one touch. Polissya took the lead.
In the 38th minute, Nazarenko landed on Tobias' foot after a jump. The video replay made the episode look terrible, but the referee did not punish the Polissya player. At the end of the first half, Polissya created a promising attack, Nazarenko passed to Fedor in the penalty area, but the midfielder failed to develop the play. In the 50th minute, Krasnopyr Igor had a great chance as he shot from a few meters at Shakhtar's goal, but Riznyk saved the ball from the corner.
In the 62nd minute, Krisyk headed the ball after a corner kick, but missed the target. In the 61st minute, Brazilian debutant Gabriel Carvalho entered the field for Shakhtar. Later, Alisson took a whimsical shot from outside the penalty area - Kudryk parried with his fists. In the 74th minute, Polissya scored a second goal. Bragaru made a great run through the center and passed a delicate ball to Andriievskyi. The former Dynamo player beat Riznyk on the second attempt.
In the 80th minute, Kudryk unsuccessfully played the ball at the corner kick, after which Gomes shot at Zhytomyr's goal, but the referee flagged for offside. Polissya defeated Shakhtar 2-0 and moved up to second place in the standings.
