Andriy Maldera explained why Ivan Kaluzhny did not receive a call-up to the national team

The head coach of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Maldera stated that he closely follows the matches of the Ukrainian championship and praised the quality of play of a midfielder, but the choice of specific players always depends on tactical requirements.

“I watch many matches of the Ukrainian championship. This is a player with certain specific characteristics. Personally, I prefer to have midfielders with slightly different characteristics in my squad, it's more of a technical story. Ivan Kalyuzhny is playing well now, we are following many players,” the coach explained.

At the same time, Maldera emphasizes that the doors to the national team are not closed to anyone and there are no restrictions for candidates.
