Metalist 1925 and Panathinaikos began preparing for the new season at approximately the same time. But while Metalist 1925 has been in Austria for five days, the Greek grand is only on the third day. Our team will be their first opponent at this training camp. Metalist 1925 starts a series of friendly matches against the Greens, with the following opponents: Danish Nordsjælland, German Schalke 04, Portuguese Braga, and Belgian Westerlo.

Last season, the championship in Greece consisted of several stages. Initially, all teams play two rounds against each other. At this stage, Panathinaikos took third place after AEK and Olympiacos. The fate of the medals and spots in the European cups was decided among the top six leaders in the final round - another two rounds. It was there that the Greens were able to improve their position: they finished second and will start the Champions League qualification in 20 days with a match against Rangers from Scotland.

Achievements: Panathinaikos is one of the two most successful clubs in Greece. The Greens have won 45 trophies: 20 championship titles, 20 Greek Cups, and 5 country Super Cups.

Geography: Panathinaikos represents the capital of the country - Athens, so the Greek grand does not need a special introduction. The club's native area is considered Ampelokipi - the central part of the capital. Interestingly, the name of the club translates as "pan-Greek," emphasizing its ambitions and historical scale.

Head Coach: Panathinaikos is led by 55-year-old Portuguese specialist Rui Vitoria. He had a playing career in his native country, playing for a number of clubs, the most famous of which is Casa Pia. However, his coaching biography looks much more convincing. He achieved the greatest success working with Benfica (2015–2019): won two championship titles, the Portuguese Cup, the League Cup, and the Super Cup. He also won the country's Cup with Vitoria Guimaraes. Among other stages of his career, it is worth mentioning his work with Al-Nassr (Saudi Arabia) and the Egypt national team. In 2021, Vitoria led Spartak Moscow - one of the most resonant periods in his career. He has been working in Greece since last autumn.
