Preview: In the fourth round of the UPL, "Metalist 1925" will face "Ruh" - a club with which they have a long history of encounters. Today will be their 11th match. "Metalist 1925" has already played over twenty matches against "Obolon", but two of them were in this season.
After three rounds of the Premier League, "Metalist 1925" is in 8th place with 4 points. "Ruh" has one point less and is in 12th place, just above the relegation zone. The team from Kharkiv finally secured their first win of the season in the last round, defeating last year's silver medalist, "Oleksandriya", away with a significant scoreline. Then there was a break for the Cup, where "Metalist 1925" defeated "Obolon" 2-0, a team they couldn't beat in the first round of the UPL.
"Ruh" earned their only points in the championship in the opening round by beating newcomers "Poltava", but in the following matches, they lost to the teams from the capital: "Dynamo" and "Obolon". However, "Ruh" managed to get back on the winning track in the Ukrainian Cup, securing a hard-fought victory against amateur team "Kormila".
Looking back at the history of matches between the two teams - half of them ended in a draw. "Metalist 1925" won twice and "Ruh" won three times. The only victory of the Kharkiv team over "Ruh" in the UPL was historic, as it was the debut match of "Metalist 1925" in the elite league, played in front of their fans. "Ruh" could only respond to goals from Krys'kiv and Batiushyn with a goal from Kuzik.
Interestingly, the Lviv team was then led by their current head coach - Ivan Fedik.
Since then, since the summer of 2021, "Metalist 1925" has not been able to beat "Ruh" - it's already 5 matches in a row. Perhaps it's time to get back on the winning track?
