Denys Kovtun: "This victory over Borussia is a symbol of change and a new stage"

"Metalist 1925" secured a resounding victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach with a score of 3:1 during the Austrian training camp. Representatives of the club's management, including Supervisory Board member Denys Kovtun, attended this match. We spoke with him immediately after the game about the significance of this victory, promotion to the UPL, and plans for the new season:

— Mr. Denys, congratulations on the victory against such a serious opponent as Borussia Mönchengladbach. What did you feel after the final whistle?

— Thank you! In fact, this is not just a victory in a friendly match - it is a symbol, a very powerful message that the team sent to everyone: we are back in the elite and ready to fight. Playing against Borussia is a challenge, but winning with such a score is the first result of the systematic work of the staff, players, and management.

— Metalist 1925 has risen to the UPL. How difficult was this journey and how do you evaluate this achievement?

— We have returned to where we belong. The season in the First League was very challenging, but the team showed character, the management showed patience, and the fans showed faith. This is a collective victory. We will be back in the elite again - and now we have to show that we deserve to be here not just for one season.

— There have been many changes in the offseason - a new coach, new players...

— Yes, we are renewing. And this is a natural process after returning to the Premier League. We invited a coach with a new vision, new players joined the team. The main thing now is to gel and create a united team. It's not about big names, but about character and stability that bring results.

— What are the goals for the season?

— We will formulate more specific things closer to the first round of the UPL. However, Metalist 1925 must be competitive in every match. Play with heart, for Kharkiv, for the fans. We want the team not only to retain its place in the UPL but also to gradually progress, develop its players, and bring back interest in football to the city.

— What would you like to say to the fans before the start of the season?

— Thank you for being with us. Your voice is our motivation. We have gone through difficult years together. Now - a new stage. Stand by the team, support us, and we will do everything to make being proud of Metalist 1925 not just pleasant, but truly exciting.
