Vatsko assessed how ready "Kharkiv" is to compete for the top positions

The famous Ukrainian journalist and football commentator Viktor Vatsko expressed his views on the ambitions of FC "Kharkiv" and the team's prospects in the current season.

The match against "Shakhtar" (0:1) demonstrated that the Kharkiv team is capable of competing on equal terms with one of the main favorites of the championship. After this meeting, the club's president Bohdan Boyko stated that the strategic goal of FC "Kharkiv" is the championship, and the club will gradually move towards it.

Vatsko admitted that Boyko's ambitious statement surprised him, as the president of the Kharkiv club is usually quite restrained in public statements. At the same time, the journalist believes that it is too early to talk about a real fight for the championship this season.

In terms of personnel potential, "Kharkiv" has taken a serious step forward, but the competition for the gold medals remains extremely high. "Shakhtar" and "Polissya" have powerful squads, and "Dynamo," which is not participating in European competitions, also remains one of the main contenders for the top places.

Instead, the fight for European competitions for "Kharkiv" already looks like a quite realistic goal. According to Vatsko, in terms of squad level, the Kharkiv club today is among the top four strongest teams in the UPL. And in the long-term perspective, the ambitions of the management can lead the team to a full-fledged fight for the championship.

FC "Kharkiv" is gradually becoming another serious force in Ukrainian football. While the focus is primarily on the fight for European competitions, the club's management does not hide a much greater goal for the future — the fight for the championship of Ukraine.
