"The club is at risk of being destroyed": journalist talks about the future of Kharkiv after the scandal with Boyko

Famous journalist Mykhailo Spivakovskiy reacted to the news of the accusation of Kharkiv's president Bohdan Boyko of overseeing fraudulent call centers.

What could Boyko's problems mean for Kharkiv?

Journalist Mykhailo Spivakovskiy on the YouTube channel program “TaToTake” commented on the recent sensational news about the accusation of the current president of the football club Kharkiv, Bohdan Boyko, of allegedly overseeing fraudulent call centers in Ukraine.

“Having talked to people more knowledgeable in such matters, I once again caught myself thinking that I don't want this to be true. If Boyko, as the president of the football club Kharkiv, is simply nullified and removed from the public arena, then in fact, this almost certainly means the club's existence will be almost certainly terminated.”

Important! After five rounds of the UPL, Kharkiv is in fourth place in the standings with nine points.

Why shouldn't we expect salvation from Nosov?

Spivakovskiy explained why we shouldn't expect that in the event of Boyko stepping away from the affairs, the current chairman of the supervisory board, Volodymyr Nosov, will resolve the situation.

“I understand that many expect that Chip will be rescued by Dale. I mean the former owner and current chairman of the supervisory board of the football club Kharkiv, Nosov. However, personally, I have the impression that Nosov simply won't be able to handle this story, at least at the urgent turns on which the football club Kharkiv exists.”

The journalist emphasized that Nosov did not inject as much money into the club and maintained it on a significantly smaller budget. Therefore, without Boyko, financing the club at its current level will be extremely difficult.

“I will remind you that Nosov, who, by the way, at least for now is not at all associated, not mentioned in this case, maintained the team on a significantly smaller budget. As experienced people tell me, it was a budget approximately 10 times smaller than in the case with Boyko.”

Spivakovskiy explained that Boyko practically took over the club's management when in January 2025 Metalist 1925 signed Vorskla's right-back Ilya Krupsky for 1.5 million euros (data from the authoritative portal Transfermarkt).

“Starting from approximately the transfer of Krupsky, when Metalist 1925, in particular through Boyko's efforts, won in a very tough competition with Shakhtar. The club was effectively handed over by Nosov into the hands of Bohdan. And now the budget of the football club Kharkiv is 30 million. Losing the president, the club risks being effectively destroyed.”
