FIFA apologizes for scandal and confirms full trust in Infantino

FIFA expressed full support for the organization's president Gianni Infantino following a recent scandal surrounding plans to privatize part of the commercial rights of the World Cup after a meeting in Rabat.

The crisis meeting ended with what was already dubbed as "peace in Rabat" within the organization. Despite criticism from UEFA, CONCACAF, AFC, and individual representatives of the football community, Infantino retained the trust of the world football leadership.

One of the main outcomes of the meeting was the official apology from FIFA leadership for mistakes made in preparing the project to involve private investors in the commercialization of the World Cup.

In a joint letter signed by Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Matthias Grafström, it is noted that the organization acknowledges the mistakes made and guarantees that similar situations will not happen again.

FIFA also announced that they will conduct an internal analysis of the decision-making process and present a corresponding report at the next Council meeting.

The organization's leadership emphasized that any changes of such magnitude can only be implemented after approval by all 211 national associations and the FIFA Council. At the same time, it was recognized that members of the organization should not have been left out of the discussion process.

Despite the apology, FIFA stated that they will not tolerate further accusations against the leadership regarding integrity or procedural violations.

The statement also underscores that all actions of the organization were carried out in accordance with FIFA's current regulations, and following the meeting, Council members expressed unanimous support for President Gianni Infantino, the Secretary General, and the organization's administration.
