Three possible formats for the new Ukrainian championship have been announced
According to the information from the well-known journalist Igor Burbas, the leadership of the Ukrainian Premier League is currently actively discussing the future of the tournament. In his video, he mentioned that three potential formats for the next Ukrainian championship are being considered:
1️⃣ Classic format + playoffs: 16 teams play two rounds (30 matches). After that, a mini-tournament of four teams (from 3rd to 6th place) is held for the last spot in the European competitions.
2️⃣ One round + division into eights: Teams play only one round (15 matches), after which the table is divided into two eights. The first one competes for medals and European competitions, while the second one fights for survival. The winner of the second eight receives a bonus in the form of the right to compete for a spot in the European competitions in the playoffs.
3️⃣ Division into eights based on ranking: The championship starts with two groups of 8 teams each, formed based on the results of the previous season. Each group plays two rounds (14 matches each), after which a consolidated table is formed, and then the teams play one more round together.
