Ukraine U-21 national team secures a draw against Turkey
In the 7th round match of the group stage of the Euro-2027 qualifying, the youth national team of Ukraine played a draw with the Turks - 2:2.
The start of the meeting was unsuccessful for the "blue-yellows": in the 12th minute, the opponents opened the score after a bizarre mistake by goalkeeper Nazar Domchak, who kicked the ball into Emirhan Ilkhan, from whom it flew into the goal. In the 33rd minute, the Turkish team doubled the advantage with a precise header from Ali Habeshoglu. However, after the break, our team showed strong character: at the beginning of the second half, Danylo Krevsun reduced the gap with a powerful long-range shot, and in the 82nd minute Ramik Hadzhiev, who came on as a substitute, equalized the score.
The draw with Turkey cost our U-21 national team a ticket to the final stage of the European Championship. The "blue-yellows" prematurely lost their chances of advancing from the group, as they will no longer be able to surpass the Turkish team due to worse head-to-head results. This result ended a six-year streak of appearances in the European championship - the last time the Ukrainian youth national team missed the final stage of the tournament was in 2021.
