Hachkevych: Harmash - cool guy, but dangerous for the team

Oleksandr Khatskevych on Denys Boyko's YouTube channel shared his experience with former Dynamo midfielder Denys Harmash, who was known for his unpredictable behavior on the football field. The Kyiv legend often received yellow or red cards due to his uncontrollable nature, including arguments with referees.

"I'll start by saying that Denys is a cool guy. He's straightforward, lives in his own world, and has his principles. But there's a moment when he's dangerous for the team. You never know what to expect from him: he can deliver top performance, or he can just collapse out of the blue.

What about Lazio, for example? Well, not just Lazio. But the attitude towards him is the same as towards everyone else. He's a very talented guy, but he lives in his own world. You have to handle this situation properly. What to do with such players? As I did: you just have to let the situation go. Everything is boiling inside, boiling so much that it all spills over. And Romanovych adds fuel to the fire.

Maybe it's better to leave the initiative to professionals like Oleg Luzhny? Trust me, it won't be better. The situation won't change - you just have to let it go. Why? Because you can't influence him. You know Denys: he's unpredictable, a great footballer - you can say a lot of epithets. Neither individual conversations nor anything else will help. You just have to catch his mood. When he's in the mood - he can deliver a 'Wow!'

Here's an example. When we won the Super Cup, he asked to be substituted before scoring a goal. I say to Harmash: 'You're playing great.' - 'I'm tired.' - 'I don't see that.' And he scored the decisive goal. Later in the locker room, I ask him, and he says: 'I don't remember scoring - I had already switched off.' He played on autopilot, but still played, he scored that goal, he snatched that ball there.

Yes, there was a breakthrough. I remember, we were losing 0:2 to Partizan after the first half, and Oleg Gusev was calming him down in the restroom. Romanovych wanted to nail him, but he came out for the second half and was involved in almost all the moments where we turned the game around. A purely individual approach - sometimes you don't need to interfere with the footballer," Khatskevych shared.

Recall that during his career, the 36-year-old Harmash played for Dynamo, Rizespor, Osijek, Metalist 1925, and Lisne. In particular, Denys played 360 matches for Kyiv in all competitions, scoring 54 goals and providing 45 assists.
